Jennifer McFerran, R.Y.T

Senior Instructor

Jennifer began practicing yoga in early 2010. Initially starting with vinyasa flow and power yoga, she dabbled in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga under the instruction of Jo Ichihara, and fell in love with the practice over the course of a few months.

Although Jennifer initially pursued yoga because she enjoyed the physical progression across so many postures, it was the meditative aspect that really fed her passion. Ashtanga’s combination of physicality, mental focus, breath work, and discipline results in a strong, empowered and balanced individual. She completed her 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training at YogaChill in March 2012 and the depth of the course further intensified her love for yoga.

She is passionate and always strives to deepen her understanding of yoga, be it through reading or through workshops and classes overseas. As she continues down the pathway of learning through her own practice and experiences, she is eager to share her discoveries with others. Through this, perhaps others will discover yoga’s immense benefits, the breath of which continues to surprise her to this day.

In 2011, I was first introduced to yoga by a friend while I was living in Las Vegas.

It was Smelly, Sweaty, and Crazy hot 90 min of yoga in a heated room.

Did I like it?       Yes, I surprisingly did!

It blew my mind, but it wasn’t the smell, the hotness, or how hard each posture was.

What I loved is that it completely reset whatever stress I had in my mind that day.  It gave me total clarity, and I went home with a BIG SMILE on my face.

I was instantly addicted to how happy I felt after practicing yoga.

After I moved to Guam, I found Yogachill studio where I started practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. I met a great Teacher “Jo”. I was always reminded by Jo that Focusing on the breath is the most important for yoga. My thoughts were “ I am breathing, what does she mean to focus on the breath?”  I soon realized that the more I practiced and focused on the breath, the more enjoyable the movement of postures with a precise breathing became.  This was another “AHA!” moment to me.

I was fortunate to attend the 2014 Yogachill Teacher Training III (200RYT) with Jo.

Through Yoga, I met other amazing teachers and many fun-loving students at Yogachill whom I’ve been inspired by.

My passion and curiosity for Yoga still continues to grow everyday, and I would love to share awesome experience with you!

Miyuki, R.Y.T

Instructor

In 2009 I was fortunate to have found Yogachill Studio where I learn traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga from my great teacher Jo and met wonderful yoga friends.

I also learned anatomy knowledge and safe practice through Jo’s experience of her past injuries. This really helps remind me that students are all at different level and should know their own edge. I learned to be patient with my body and to be satisfied with what I can achieve at this moment.

I would like to share how yoga gives us benefit not only for physical, also for the mind and for everyone at all ages.

I love being a dedicated student at Yogachill Studio, but I also enjoy traveling to learn from other yoga teachers so that I can deepen my yoga practice. I look forward to sharing my knowledge with others wanting to learn yoga.

Yoga is my temple to balance my life. My yoga journey is still halfway and every time I am on my yoga mat, I always keep in my mind “99% practice, 1% theory, then all is coming” (quote from Guru Sri K. Pattabhi Jois who popularized Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga).  So yoga teacher certificate does not mean the end of yoga journey.
